Bonsai! To be or not to be....

Bonsai plants are incredible. The fact that they have been completely manipulated by human hands does bug me a little but they are fascinating. Miniature versions of their big brothers, and sisters. As I write this I'm not sure how I feel about nature being screwed with like this. Retarding the potential of something so grand as a tree. Maybe its just another way humankind wishes to display its power over its environment. It seems, in fact, evidence to contradict the statement that was once proclaimed that modern humans are the most adaptive of all the species and hence have become the most prominent on the planet. It seems that humankind has achieved a certain amount of expertise in manipulating their surroundings to suit themselves is what I say. Bad humans! Leave your planet alone. Stick you!!

Nature you crazy thing

Even though we witness nature all around us every day, albeit mostly going unnoticed, every now-and-again it throws up a peculiarity, a something out-of-the-ordinary but as with all that nature springs it is something of beauty. I have a fondness for photographing flowers and other flora types whether it be trees, parts of trees or otherwise. Here is a wee gem I discovered in a garden in Singapore. It is but one of thousands of wonders in this garden but for the moment this is the one I will share.
